A Public Media Art Project infusing Veam Interactive’s unique vision into the photography of Kim Jung-Man.

Veam Interactive’s art crew ARTICA presented media art works created with Kim Jung-Man’s photographs and calligraphy in a special exhibition from July 9 to September 8, 2021, across COEX Artium’s façade media, Media Tower, and Xpace Edge Column in Samseong-dong.

Through this collaboration between Veam Interactive, one of Korea’s top-tier media art groups, and Kim Jung-Man, Korea’s leading photographer and renowned film-poster director, audiences experienced an unprecedented form of digital convergence both in Korea and abroad.

HOPE

The media art work HOPE, displayed across the full façade media of COEX Artium, is a motion graphics reinterpretation of Kim Jung-Man’s Le Monde series—capturing nature in the forms of sea, desert, and flowers—through the vision of ARTICA.

Kim’s calligraphy, conveying a message of hope in an era of change, became a symbolic “window of hope” for urban audiences, opening perspectives toward a new world.

A key point of the exhibition was experiencing the profound patience with which Kim waited to capture diverse aspects of nature, alongside ARTICA, Veam Interactive’s art crew, who reimagined this vision through innovative motion techniques.

Red Light 2 Seconds

With the theme of hyper-realistic beauty that colors the city and sky, Red Light 2 Seconds employed all six large media columns to animate still photographs with diverse motion techniques, offering a new perspective on the urban landscapes of contemporary life.

The series originated from a fleeting inspiration: “What if I captured every building visible during the brief pause at a red light?” Transformed through the application of color onto black-and-white photographs and refined with Photoshop, the works embody Kim Jung-Man’s uniquely surreal aesthetic vision.

Can You Hear the Wind Blow

Can You Hear the Wind Blow (Ddukbang-gil Series) contrasts the harsh realities of urban life with moments of stillness captured in black-and-white photographs. Through subtle movements and changes—the sound of the wind, the faint sway of trees, the flutter of wings, the quiet layering of snow—it evokes the dynamic presence of nature within the static city, embodying diverse gestures of hope.

The works reveal the profound tones and colors inherent to Kim Jung-Man’s photography, drawn from the very depths of his canvases. Richly composed, they offer comfort in difficult times and convey a resilient energy to overcome adversity.
